Primary school

Wüssenswerk’s primary school creates space to discover, understand and grow.

Educational approach

Learning with curiosity, responsibility and trust in every child’s individual abilities.

Wüssenswerk School follows Lehrplan 21, adopts a competence-oriented approach and draws on Maria Montessori’s progressive education. Methods from Gerald Hüther, Ben Fuhrmann and Vera Birkenbihl also inform our school day. Education at Wüssenswerk is based on neurobiological insights and brought to life through the attitudes of teachers and school leadership.

At Wüssenswerk School, brain-friendly learning combines established educational practice with the spirit of our times.

Working together on a learning step, a project or the school day is central to our approach. Pupils experience a very practical school routine, strengthening skills they will need later in working life.

We also respect individual learning processes. We encourage moments of flow with learning materials, in the kitchen, garden or forest, while caring for our physical and mental resources and finding a good balance between learning and breaks.

Wüssenswerk School is independent of religious denominations, ideologies and political parties. For readability, our German texts use a single grammatical form for pupils. We hope everyone feels included.

In our learning spaces, subjects become worlds of discovery, with special materials inviting children to experiment, explore and understand.

Our primary school location

Palazzo, Sils im Domleschg

Our primary school has found its home on the top floor of the Palazzo, directly above the municipal administration of Sils im Domleschg. We are very grateful to shape our school in this special place and fill it with life together with the children.
