Secondary school

Get involved, experiment, understand — learning in the midst of real life.

A new secondary school for our region

Subject knowledge meets real projects, practical experience and the future. At Wüssenswerk’s new secondary school, young people learn for school and for what comes afterwards.

In Thusis, we are creating a new competence-oriented, project-based secondary school within the Lehrplan 21 curriculum, with a strong focus on practical experience, the future and research. Pupils in the Realschule and Sekundarschule streams work on real questions, connecting mathematics, languages, science, society, computing, design and other subjects into a coherent whole. Qualified subject teachers ensure a solid foundation and guide pupils through their projects.

What makes it special: learning goes beyond textbooks. Experts from business, science, technology and society bring knowledge from the real world. Young people research, develop, build, code, discuss, calculate and present their results. They also learn to use AI and new technologies critically and responsibly, check sources and turn knowledge into practical solutions.

Our aim is a secondary school that prepares young people for apprenticeships, further education and, above all, life. Independence, resilience, critical thinking, initiative and the ability to turn ideas into reality matter just as much as the competencies of Lehrplan 21. Wüssenswerk is creating a place where young people can experiment, take responsibility and discover their potential.

Towards the 2027/28 school year

Our new secondary school is planned to open in Thusis for the 2027/28 school year. The educational approach is currently being refined. Together with specialists, we are finalising the details and preparing the next steps for implementation and the approval process.

From October, we will hold our first information sessions for interested parents, young people and anyone wishing to learn more about the new secondary school. We will share our approach, project work, school routines and our vision for learning in Cycle 3.

The premises are progressing too: from January, preparations begin for the renovation and development of the secondary site in Thusis. Step by step, a place for projects, research, technology, design, media, encounters and shared learning is taking shape. Along the way, we will keep showing you what is emerging.

More information, dates and insights will follow regularly.
